Relatives of 11 month old Khrista Knutt told doctors she was suffering from a head cold. The child died Monday morning at her Laventille home. It was later stated that baby Khrista's 21 year old mother and boyfriend found her unresponsive and then attempted to revive the infant using live electrical wires.
An autopsy performed at the Forensic Science Centre indicated that the infant died of "blunt craniocerebral trauma" or traumatic brain injury and aspiration due to pneumonia and electrocution. At the Centre, the baby's grandmother explained the postmortem results, "They saying like if somebody hit her. It's about three times they hit her," Marlene Rawlins said.
The couple who've been dating four months, is in police custody for questioning at Riverside Plaza.
